Halsey Resources is Hiring a Remote Full Charge Bookkeeper

Seeking part-time, senior level bookkeeper to join a small firm located in Seattle, WA. All work is performed remotely but needs to be performed on a daily basis as necessary. Strong QuickBooks Online skills is a must.

About our Business:

Halsey Resources has been in business for over 15 years and we're looking to expand our client base and therefore, our team. While we are looking for part-time at this point, if interested in more hours they may become available over the course of the year. Bookkeeping services we offer include, but are not limited to, monthly account reconciliations, QuickBooks file setups and cleanups, QuickBooks training and support, file review and support. Financial statement review and analysis. Payroll processing via QB Payroll and Gusto.

About our Ideal Candidate:

· Must have your own computer with high-speed internet access, with virus and malware protection.

· Effectively and professionally communicate with clients, peers, and supervisors in written and verbal forms that is both timely, accurate, and complete.

· Uses good time management demonstrated by meeting or exceeding deadlines, submits deliverables on time or early, and sufficiently anticipates task duration.

· Demonstrates self-direction by staying organized, follows through on projects and tasks, anticipates and prepares for support from supervisors or peers.

· Has a strong work ethic and a positive, can-do attitude; self-monitors consistency, quality, communication, and has a general self-awareness.

· Feels comfortable working on their own for a good amount of the time but also comfortable coordinating with others as we have set up systems that build on the strength of various team members and this creates interdependency.

· An ideal candidate would be able to commit to a certain number of hours ahead of time so we can assign work appropriately, but also know that we offer some flexibility in how those hours look. We can work with those in different time zones within certain parameters.

· Preference given to employees with flexible time structure as our monthly workload ebbs and flows over the course of the month. The first and last few days of the month may have 5-8 hours, one or two weeks of 20 hours and another of 30. We pay monthly so net pay isn’t affected.

Requirements:

· Proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop and all versions of QuickBooks Online (We currently do not utilize QB Enterprise)

· Conversant in most payroll matters - while this job does not entail processing payroll often, you may need to occasionally fill in for our Payroll Specialist. Primary payroll related task is to review work of others when doing client bookkeeping, so understanding enough to be able to spot errors is key.

· Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite - Excel (familiar with formatting and basic formula creation), Word, Slack.

· Understand the principles of sales, use and excise tax. Experience filing sales, use and/or excise tax returns in any state is a plus. Bonus if you already have experience for state of WA.

· Formal education in accounting or minimum of 5 yrs of equivalent experience.

Preferred:

· Experience working in an Accounting Firm a major plus

· Payroll tax preparation experience, manual, with QB Payroll Services and especially, Gusto

· Familiarity with Smartsheet a plus

· Xero bookkeeping experience helpful but not necessary

· Any knowledge of income tax preparation is appreciated, but not required - we are a bookkeeping firm, not a CPA office.

Responsibilities:

· Prepare monthly bank and credit card reconciliation

· Calculate & file State & City Excise Tax Returns

· Assist with Accounts Payable

· Assist with invoice preparations and Accounts Receivable review

· Acts as the central point of contact and representative with bookkeeping clients

· Train junior level bookkeepers with lower level tasks

· Calculate and file payroll taxes occasionally as needed

· Post monthly adjusting journal entries and prepare monthly financial statements

· Assist with creating Quarterly and Yearly tasks

· QuickBooks file setup

· Provide QuickBooks training to clients

· Prepare financial statements and provide backup documentation in support of outside accounting firms' preparation of federal tax returns - We get most referrals from CPAs because we prepare books to their standard and that helps them do their job of filing tax returns and advising clients.

· Position starts as an Independent Contractor. After 90 days we'll evaluate if it's a good fit for both sides, at which point you'll become an employee and benefits will kick in. Compensation starts at $25/hr with an increase at 90 days.

Salary: $25-$28 per hour depending on experience

  • Monday thru Friday. However, we are looking for dependability, if work gets done and available for questions, hours are flexible.
